Babies Do Not Care If Pre Owned:
Last week, as I was on my morning walk, I saw a tricycle by the side of the road beside someone's recycle bin. It was perfect size for Anna. Just needed a little clean up. I always ask, even if other's do not. The door was open. I walked up and asked the lady who told me to take it. I carried it home and cleaned it up. When I presented it to Anna, her eyes lit up. You would think I had giving her the world. She quickly climbed on top of it. Of course, she got mad when she realized she just could not make it go on her own. However, her mom pushed her around on it and she was thrilled. After another tantrum when we made her go inside. I realized that I had scored, I was the bestest Grandma in the world. Every time we go outside now, she goes straight to it. After we unlock it, she will push it around a while herself and then climb on and we push her. She can't reach the peddles just yet but will be able to soon. It is rusty in places and the paint is peeling but to Anna, it is the most wonderful toy in the world. Perhaps, us as adults should take her example. But that is for Money Monday.
Copycat Baby:
Pat, pat on the front pockets. Pat, pat on the back pockets. Which pocket is my keys in? I have done this dance quite a few times. I know Brittany has done it as well. I have seen many other adults do it. However, I was quite amused to see Anna, a 15 month old baby do it. I guess either Brittany and/or I have done it enough for her to mimic our actions.
Learning New Things:
Everyday, Anna learns more and more. She will be talking soon and is so smart. This week on top of teaching her the basics, ABCs and 123s. I am trying to teach her the Vulcan hand signal for, "Live Long and Prosper." Yes, I am teaching her to be geek. She loves to watch Star Trek even if she has no idea what it is. Her favorite character is Quark on DS9. No accounting for taste. I am a Worf fan myself. Of course, she watches cartoons as well.
Her Temper:
Her temper is still there. However, the longer we keep up the system. The smaller her tantrums gets. She is also listening more often, as well. Usually, if her mom isn't home, all I need to do is say NO. Of course, like all babies, she tests Mama the worst.
